The Data Grid lets you arrange and view your data allowing to arrange columns, groups and to sort and filter data.
By default a Data Grid will appear with all columns included of the underlying Query.
You can run a Data Grid from any loaded DBxtra Report Object.
Open Data Grid | Arrange Columns | Sort | Filter | Search | Group | Summaries | Formatting | Drill Down Data Grid | Refresh Data Grid | Copy Records | Export data from the Data Grid
Create a new or load a saved Report Object.
Click "Design" on the Data Grid.

Or click the "Data Grid" button on the "Design" menu.

The Data Grid opens in a new window.

You can move a column by dragging it to a new position.

Select a column header and re-size it.
Click "Show / Hide Field List" on the "Data Grid Options" menu.

Drag a column from the Data Grid to the "Customization" window.


To add a column drag it form the "Customization" window to the Data Grid.

If you made changes and want to reset the Data Grid to its original state click "Reset Columns" on the "Data Grid Options" menu.
To auto-fit all Columns click "Best Fit" on the "Fit Columns" menu.
In case you have many columns and want to show them all without the need of scrolling horizontally click "Fit All" on the "Fit Columns" menu.
To sort a column, select its column header and click it. Or click "Ascending" / "Descending" on the "Sort" menu.
The sort order will change to either ascending or descending.

Click on "Clear Sorting" button of the "Sort" menu to clear all sort orders.
To filter on a given value select it and click "Filter By" on the "Filter" menu.

To clear a filter click "Clear Filter" on the "Filter" menu.
To search for a value click "Search" on the "Filter" menu.

Enter the value and click "Find".
Drag and drop a column header to the "Drag a column header here to group by that columns" area.

To add an additional nested group select the column header and drag it to the "Drag a column header here to group by that columns" area.

Tip! You can define unlimited nested groups.

To clear all groups click "Clear Groups" on the "Group By" menu.
To expand or collapse a group level click on "Expand" / "Collapse" on the "Expand" menu.
To expand or collapse all group levels click on "Expand All" / "Collapse All" on the "Expand All" menu.
Click "Summaries" on the "Data Grid Options" menu.

View Columns: select the column to summarize on.
Group Summaries: select a summary function.
Total Summaries: select a summary function.

Change the summary function or select "None"to remove it.

To assign a column format select it, right click it and select a "Format Column" option.
Or click "Format Fields" on the "Data Grid Options" menu.

Note! The format will be assigned to all Data Grid Views and also to all Pivot Grid Views.
Note! Changes will be reflected immediately in the DBxtra Designer - DBxtra Desktop Viewer - Report Web Service - Data Grid and Pivot Grid.
Select "Custom Format".

Enter any custom format in the "Custom" tab.

To assign a clickable hyperlink to a field select it and choose "Hyperlink".


Caption: enter a "Caption" for the hyper link.
Field URL: select the field which holds the URL.
Target: select the Web browser target.
Here is how the hyperlink will be displayed in the Report Designer Data Grid.

To add a new drill down click "Add Drilldown" on the "Drilldown"menu.


Select the Report Objects underlying Query form the "Data Sources"window.
From the "Fields" drop down box select the fields to relate the Drill Down to the main Data Grid.
Important! These field must be of the same field type.
Click "Add Key" to create the relationship.
Click "Add Relationship" to insert the drill down.

Select an existing drill down.

Click "Add Drilldown" on the "Drilldown"menu.

Select the Report Objects underlying Query form the "Data Sources"window.
From the "Fields" drop down box select the fields to relate the Drill Down to the main Data Grid.
Important! These field must be of the same field type.
Click "Add Key" to create the Relationship.
Click "Add Relationship" to insert the Drill Down.

Explanation:
The example above shows a Data Grid with customer information.
The first drill down shows all invoices for each customer.
The second nested drill down shows
Invoice line item details for each invoice.
Tip! You can use all functionality of the Data Grid like sorting, filtering, etc. inside a drill down.
Tip! Save your drill down as a Saved Data Grid View!
Click in "Show/Hide Drilldown"on the "Drilldown" menu to show or hide drill downs.
To remove a drill down click "Remove Drilldown" on the Drilldown" menu.
Important! This will permanently delete the Drill Down.
Important! When removing a drill down which has one or more nested drill downs, those will also be removed.
When you open a Data Grid the first time it will show as "Initial View".
Once you change any grouping, sorting, filtering, etc. you can save this as a saved "Data Grid View".
This offers you to have many different Data Grid views for each object and allows quick navigation between the different saved Data Grid views.
Click "Save" on the "Data Grid" menu.


View Name: assign a name for the view.
Set as default: check if to save as the default view.
Comments: optionally enter some comment for the View.
Load any Data Grid view, apply some changes and save as a new view by clicking "Save As" on the "Data Grid" menu.

To load any view select it from the "Select View" drop down box.

To delete a view select it from the "Select View" drop down box and click "Delete" from the "Data Grid" menu.
To set a view as default select it from the "Select View" drop down box and check the "Default" field.

To refresh data on the Data Grid click the "Refresh" button.

You can set a auto refresh interval (seconds) to automatically refresh data on the Data Grid.
Enter a interval and select "Start".

Select the rows you want to copy and click "Copy" on the "Copy" menu.

This will place the data on the clipboard and you can paste it into any other application like Word, Excel, etc.
Click "Copy All" on the "Copy" menu.
Click "Export To" and select one of the available output formats.

Assign a path where to save the file to.
Once the file was exported you can open it.


Note! All filters, sort orders and groupings will be applied to the export. If you export to Excel all formatting will also be exported.
